MANATEE SNORKEL TOURS

Snorkeler interacting with Manatee Snorkeler Interacting with Manatee

The Florida Manatees congregate year round in the warm water springs of the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge in Crystal River, Florida. The largest concentration of manatees is from October thru April during their escape from the cool water of the Gulf of Mexico. Capt. Campbell has been conducting manatee tours on these water ways for the past 14 years and Capt. Slider for the past 11 years, educating visitors about manatee protection and guiding them in the manatees natural habitat.

Interactive manatee tours are strictly snorkeling with the only requirements being the ability to swim and a respectful attitude towards the manatee and its environment. The boat ride to the different springs is scenic and always flat calm. After the boat is anchored, you will slip quietly into the 72 degree water (yes we require a wet suit). The water depth is anywhere from 3 to 30 feet. Usually before you can ask your Captian where to look, a friendly manatee will be approaching you, seeking out attention. We at Aquamarine Images believe that by providing this once in a lifetime experience in the manatees' natural habitat we will contribute to the survival of this magnificent creature.

The regulations created by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service are strictly enforced and all visitors are thoroughly briefed prior to entering the water.

Please see our Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge section for further information on refuge rules, photos and map.
